CAROLYN HUDSON HARRIS
IFBB PRO FIGURE

Just coming off a big win as an IFBB Pro at the Border States in California, Carolyn now has her sights set on the 2016 IFBB Olympia in Las Vegas, Nevada! Carolyn is a great example of setting goals, attaining goals, but also keeping it real in life. She lets her family and faith come first, which makes training and prepping for competitions much more successful for her. She has tremendous support from her husband, son and her mother. IF you ever get the chance to chat with Carolyn at a local competition, make sure to take that opportunity as she is a very humble and inspiring athlete and person!

1. When and why did you decide to start competing?
My first competition was April 2012.  1 began to compete not for the sake of competition but out of a need for structure in my life.  Surprisingly, after winning my first competition I began to wonder…“what else could I do?”

2. What makes you want to go farther in the sport?
I love this sport, it gave me a new passion for life! It’s me against me! But...This has become more than a competition with myself.  I have discovered love in inspiring others to set goals for themselves, to be the best they can be.

3. What type of training do you implement during contest prep and the in the off-season?
During off season I focus on bringing up my weakest areas. I also focus on gaining size with heavy lifting, light cardio, and increasing my flexibility and overall wellness with yoga!  On season I focus on maintaining my size, increasing the intensity of my workouts, increasing cardio, and I do lots of yoga!

4. What is your favorite type of dieting meals and what is your favorite type of cheat meal?
I stay hydrated. I eat simple clean foods complex carbs, lean meats, and healthy fats. I base my amounts on what time of the season it is and the effect I need. My favorite cheat is pizza & pancakes!!!!

5. Who are some of the people that have helped you along the way to get where you are now in life or in the sport?
My relationship with the Lord and my strong desire to show all things are possible through Christ!  My number one fan! My husband: without his support I wouldn't be here. His believing in me 100% helps me stay ambitious! My mom: She's a true prayer warrior and I can count on her to keep me grounded.  My son:  I have a beautiful 23 year old autistic son and knowing how challenged he is at times and seeing how hard he works to be his best for me inspires me to be better. My coach Kim Oddo, my posing coach Andre Scott, my trainer Alex Whitaker, my previous coach and good friend Khay Rosemond and all the other numerous other coaches and trainers who have helped me along my journey.

6. Who or what inspires you to strive for more in the sport?
My family, friends, and all of my supporters... I also want to mention how proud and thankful I am to be an athlete from my new home state Oregon the support here has been amazing!!!! and it inspires my strive!!!

7. What is next for you as a competitor?
I can only tell you a little about what will be next in my career because I am still figuring it out.  But I do plan to be ready for the 2016 OLYMPIA!!!  It's all I'll be thinking about!

8. What is your favorite memory good or bad while prepping or competing?
My favorite memory... that's easy… When they called number #13 at the Border State Championship and announced I was the champion!!!  I felt so humbled and honored to have competed with the best in the sport!

9. Any website you would like to plug, facebook, twitter, personal site, etc...
You can connect with me at Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

10. Anything you would like to say to all the visitors to NPC Oregon?

To anyone that visits the site I want to say “Thank You" for reading
my bio! I also want to say that if you put God first in your life and surround yourself with people that hold you accountable you can achieve balance and success.  It’s never too late to become the person you always thought you could be.
