Women's Physique & Figure |
FACEBOOK

Big things come in small packages and that can be proven with Keriann "Smalz" Heitzman. Keriann has been pushing forward in every show she has competed in and she has broken the barriers by winning Overall's in both Figure and Women's Physique at the 2012 Oregon State Championships. Look for some even bigger things to come from this young lady as she has found a new passion in Women's Physique and the posing.

1. When and why did you decide to start competing?
I decided to start competing because my dear friend Genevieve Moreno kept asking me when I was going to get on stage. I decided to make the 7 Feathers my 1st show, which was also the 1st show she'd ever chosen to compete in as well.

2. What makes you want to go farther in the sport?
I have this strong competitive bone in my body that drives me to compete and rise to new challenges. The residual positive affects of those around me is also a huge plus.

3. What type of training do you implement during contest prep and the in the off-season?
I love doing "Failure Sets." The goal is for my body to fail, not my mind. I push until there's nothing left....until I can't move the weight even one more inch.

4. What is your favorite type of dieting meals and what is your favorite type of cheat meal?
I love ground turkey and egg whites for my dieting meals and my cheats by far are the love of choc., cookies and cakes...lol.

5. Who are some of the people that have helped you along the way to get where you are now in life or in the sport?
The people in my life that have helped me to get to where I am today would be my mother and father, my life coach Laura Brewster, my massage mentor Doug Johnson, my brother and god sister and best friend for sure as well as all my family/ friends and clients. In the sport my first Trainer Bruce Lester from Hardcore, David Johnston and his wife Shereena, and my Current coach and motivator Andre BamBam Scott.

6. Who or what inspires you to strive for more in the sport?
I'm very self motivated. I give no less energy to my workouts than I expect my clients to. My goal is to surpass my previous contests condition. If I do that, I feel as if I've won even before I set foot on stage.

7. What is next for you as a competitor?
My coach and I will be touching base soon on what is next on the agenda. For now it is time for a few days of intense rest!! :}

8. What is your favorite memory good or bad while prepping or competing?
My best memory on stage is seeing the smile on my parent's face when I took the stage for the 1st time, and the hug my dad gave me as soon as I exited the stage.  Making my parents proud is a wonderful feeling!

9. Any website you would like to plug, facebook, twitter, personal site, etc...
You can find me on Facebook and www.SmalzBodyWorx.com

10. Anything you would like to say to all the visitors to NPC Oregon?

Never limit yourself, This sport is like nothing you've ever taken part in, in your life. Its very consuming. It brings out the best in you, and has the ability to reveal weaknesses as well.  You have to try it for yourself to know what it is like and enjoy the experience. This is really the most self rewarding thing you can ever accomplish and it really shows you the true meaning of discipline and self growth. Also as a coach and trainer I find comfort in assisting my athletes in obtaining their personal fitness goals and watching them achieve things the once thought was impossible.
