Being a wife and mother did not stop Kim Bell from making an impact at the 2011 Nationals in Women's Physique. Kim made the transition from Figure to Physique and earned a top three spot in her shot at the new and fast growing catagory. Do we see an new IFBB Pro in the works in Oregon, I think so!

1. When and why did you decide to start competing?
I had always been very athletic as a child. I was in gymnastics and swimming in high school, and always loved the challenge of competition. I gained alot of weight with my children and this forced me to really get into weight training and getting fit again. I met my husband Howard Bell in 2001 and he had competed and owned the Portland Rose Cup, a bodybuilding show. He got me interested in competing and my first show was the Oregon Ironman in 2003 in which I won my class in the figure division. I was hooked!

2. What makes you want to go farther in the sport?
My driving force is the passion I have for a balance in life. I have had many occupations in which I never felt quite satisfied by what I was able to offer people, I felt I had so much more to give. God has given me a gift with the fitness and life coaching that I am able to share with many people. When they reach their goals I feel the happiest knowing that they needed me to be able to get there and I was able to share in that balance of their happiness.

3. What type of training do you implement during contest prep and the in the off-season?
In the off season I devote my time to adding more muscle. I am by nature a hard gainer. I don't do any cardio and I eat alot of good muscle building meals. I do add the cardio and whatch my food intake when I am preparing for a show usually 8 wks out I will portion my meals, and I am meticulous about my food choices.

4. What is your favorite type of dieting meals and what is your favorite type of cheat meal?
My favorite cheat meal is homemade pizza, crust and all, and of course homemade cookies! One of my favorite diet dessers is pumpkin puree with stevia and pumpkin pie spice!

5. Who are some of the people that have helped you along the way to get where you are now in life or in the sport?
I give thanks to God for the gift of passion and drive. My husband Howard Bell for introducing me to bodybuilding lifestyle. Ron and Susuan Smith for getting us back into the sport. Derek and Kiana who have broadened my vision and keep me on track. Noel Fuller for having an impecable eye for detail. The NPC judges by letting me know to move to womens physique. Marilyn Spatola for giving me the opportunity to be an affiliate for Liquid Sun Rayz Oregon/Washington.

6. What is next for you as a competitor?
I am going to be competing at Jr Nationals in June hoping to get my Pro Card in Womens Physique

7. What is your favorite memory good or bad while prepping or competing?
My Suit straps broke right before I went on stage at the Emerald cup in 2010! The best was the group prayer we all had before going on stage for prejudging at the 2011 Emerald Cup.
