Fitness, Figure, and Bikini | Oregon State & Seven Feathers Champion

One of the most promising physiques is right here in Oregon and that physique belongs to the young and athletic Zori Garasimchuk! Zori is a true believer in hard work, good nutrition, and living life to the fullest and good things will come to those that practice the same rules. After coming out of nowhere and making a strong impact in her first few shows, you will see alot more of Zori as she has goals to always bring the best package to the stage.

1. When and why did you decide to start competing?
I started competing in summer of 2009. I guess the main reason I started competing was because it looked so fun! I watched my first competition in Lincoln City, and the following month decided I would try it, and registered for the Oregon State 2009. I started training hard about 6 weeks out. Thinking back on it now, I was stoked. It was the perfect reason to see what can happen if I started working out and eating right. Believe me, before last summer, I was lifting only 3 times a week and eating junk. Thank goodness that I was running 5 days a week, or I don't think i would have been in the shape I was back then. Another reason I started competing was because I needed to focus on something more, I wanted to reach my goal of having nice abs! It was always a dream of mine to have nice abs and gosh darn it, I was going to finally make it happen!

2. What makes you want to go farther in the sport?
Seeing how much more I can improve my physique! Everyday is a challenge, with harder work outs then the day before. Everyday, I see my body change and I love it! I am constantly setting new goals and trying to push myself to get better. Getting on a national level stage after so much hard work & winning would be the ultimate accomplishment for me. And this is why I want to go farther in this sport.

3. What type of training do you implement during contest prep and the in the off-season?
it very simple! Lifting hard and doing my cardio everyday. I usually do two muscle groups a day, and legs twice a week. My goal is to always give 100% in every workout. You have to understand the different workouts and how to target the muscles. I read A LOT and try new workouts constantly to keep my muscles growing. Leg days are INTENSE!  I try to work on my posing a few times a week and this way I can see what muscles are growing and what needs more work. It is critical to have someone help you during contest prep. My trainer Noel Fuller helps me with my diet and comp prep so that I am ready to get on stage in the best shape possible. Off season, I am working really hard! For me, there is really no "off" in off season. I would call it "off stage, in the gym season" LOL

4. What is your favorite type of dieting meals and what is your favorite type of cheat meal?
Oh, the topic of FOOD! MY FAVORITE!! I absolutely love cooking and eating! My favorite healthy meal is eggwhites mixed with chicken and shrimp with a little cilantro and salsa! Cheat meal would have to be pasta with pesto sauce or nachos! Its a toss up though, because they are both so good!

5. Who are some of the people that have helped you along the way to get where you are now in life or in the sport?
My trainer Noel has been a great motivator and supporter in this sport. He tells me exactly what I need to work on and pushes me! I've made some awesome improvements and its because of the work outs he put me through! He also taught me to be strong and to follow my heart. He is not only the best trainer, but a great friend. I've never had a training partner until I met my boyfriend Alex! I usually worked out by myself! But when I started training with him, I have had the most intense workouts! He pushes me and motivates me and tells me what I need to work on! Training with someone who works hard and doesn't give up is the best! I'm so lucky to share this passion for bodybuilding with him! It is something so fun we can share together!
My sister Natalie was there from the start! She saw the potential in me, and told me to go for it! She has been the #1 supporter in my life and in the sport and she helped me everyday to fight! This lifestyle is so challenging but when you have someone there all the time and encourages you and believes in you, it makes it so much easier! Natalie was there for my at my competitions, cheering me on and getting me ready for the stage! I couldn't have done it without her!

6. Who or what inspires you to strive for more in the sport?
Monica Brandt, Tanji Johnson and Jamie Eason are my biggest inspiration. They are an example of true fighters and they show that this kind of lifestyle can be so rewarding. Each of them has accomplished so much in their lives, yet they are humble and such amazing girls! I have learned a lot from all of them. Watching them compete and seeing them in magazines has helped me improve my physique and diet immensely.

7. What is next for you as a competitor?
Its hard to say what is next. I like to do things very spur of the moment, such as deciding to do my first competition 6 weeks out! But I think that is what makes life exciting. I want to give my best every time I do go on stage and dream of one day getting my pro card. Hopefully if I work hard enough, it will happen. For now, I will continue to work hard and hopefully compete at least once this year!

8. What is your favorite memory good or bad while prepping or competing?
My favorite memory is definitely winning the overall at Seven Feathers last year! I didn't think I was going to win it! All the girls looked so amazing! It was a huge surprise to me and I was extremely extremely excited! Bad memory? that's a tough one! but I think it was while prepping! Getting pro tan all over my bathroom, and because I am such a neat freak, i scrubbed for hours to try to get it all out!
